|AND WE’RE BACK…|
Our Musical Director Suzanne Leclair and Accompanist Heather Graham were nervous with anticipation about our first night back, but they did not need to be. A new venue, a fresh start and it was wonderful to see so many there.
A huge welcome to nine new people who joined us for a total of 25 wonderful singers in celebration of finally being able to get back together. This included six wonderful male singers made up of tenors, basses and a baritone.
A huge thank you to the Committee and supporters for being instrumental in getting us back up and running. They came early to do the required COVID-19 cleaning and stayed afterwards to do it all again. We are putting together a roster to share the load and a number of members have already put their hands up which is fantastic to see.
After some housekeeping information regarding the new venue and some instruction on our COVID-19 Plan it was time to get down to some singing, the reason why we were all there. We had some fun warm up with “Drunken Sailor” then straight back into the “Streets of London”. We were a little rusty and missing a few voices but by the end of the evening I think we sounded wonderful.
We have some great plans for the remainder of the year with participation in the Festival of Japan in September and the first Philippine Festival in October. We have a booking to run a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle on 16 August 2020 so stay tuned for further information.
It’s great to be back and I look forward to seeing you all next week.
We are ready to recommence live rehearsals, so warm up those voices and practice your social distancing.
Bunbury Bel Canto Singers Inc. will resume choir rehearsals on Tuesday, 21st July 2020 at 7:00 pm.
PLEASE NOTE: We have a new rehearsal venue at:
HACC (Home and Community Care)
3 Parade Road
BUNBURY WA 6230
(next to Fire Station and parking behind the building)
We take this opportunity to thank St Augustine’s for their cooperation and support over many years and wish them well in their future endeavors.
We will be operating under State and Federal government COVID-19 Guidelines as well as our own COVID-19 Plan which I have attached to this email. We ask that all members familiarize yourselves with this document.
While we will be making every effort to provide a safe and sanitized environment for rehearsals there is no guarantee that you will not contract the COVID-19 virus when community transmission reappears. Therefore, it is extremely important that if you are in one of the vulnerable categories affected by this virus you need to make an informed choice to return to live rehearsals. To assist in making this informed choice we have provided some additional information. Please follow the links below:
We are also looking into Live Streaming of rehearsal for those who cannot yet attend in person but further information on this will be provided closer to the recommencement date.
If you have any questions about the information or returning to choir rehearsal please give one of the Committee Members a call.
I look forward to seeing you all again whether it is now or a little later.
